Angullong is a family owned wine company from the premium high altitude cool climate wine region of Orange in the Central West of New South Wales located about 350km west of Sydney.
The Angullong vineyards are located on the southern lower slopes of the Orange region at the foothills of Mt Canobolas, an ancient volcano. Angullong’s topography is best described as dramatic. The country ranges from undulating to steep hills with spectacular limestone escarpments that radically descend to the fast flowing Belubula River.
Our vineyard has an intensive landscape of hills, valleys and flats. This complex landscape creates an infinite array of micro-climates that we match to varieties to produce grapes with complex and refined flavour profiles.
The El Desperado Whites and Rose’s clever design changes with the temperature of the wine, displaying a skull when the wine is at room temperature; when chilled below 15 degrees, a beautiful flowers appears over the skull while the leaves turn from brown to green.
Élevage is the French term for the progression of wines from adolescence to maturity, under attentive winemaking. Wines only spend a short time aging in fine French, American and Hungarian barriques in our cellar.
Angullong’s bluestone cellars, located in the picturesque village of Millthorpe, was built in the late 1800s as stables to the adjoining hotel.
The village of Millthorpe is located 15 minutes drive from Orange, and is home to a number of historic buildings that house a range of cafés, restaurants, accommodation and boutique, specialty stores.
We offer visitors to the Angullong cellar door a memorable experience which is intimate, enjoyable and relaxed. Our full range of wines are available for tastings, including a number of Cellar Door only wines.
The Cellar Door is OPEN 7 DAYS for tastings and sales from 11am to 5pm Fridays. (Closed Christmas day and Good Friday).
Our vineyards are situated in Macclesfield, on the southern end of the Adelaide Hills. A historically significant town settled in 1840, it is nestled amongst rolling hills
Winter is cold and wet in the Hills, so we prune our vineyard as early as we can to try and avoid the rain and chill.
The number of chilling hours required by grapes is about 150 chilling hours. This is much less than required by other fruits in the Adelaide Hills such as cherries which need up to 800 hours of chilling.
