2016 Angullong Cabernet Sauvignon

“A most enjoyable wine of excellent structure and balance…” Sunday Telegraph

Cool climate cabernet sauvignon is a wonderful wine. Complexity and texture, along with lovely flavours of blackberry, olive and blackcurrant are presented within a structural wine that has lovely fine tannins. It’s a wine that will reward a few years in the cellar.

9.3/10 “This is punching way above its weight and is so quintessentially cabernet it should be in the dictionary.”
Daily Examiner, Max Crus, Nov 2019

“As the vines on this Orange vineyard at the foothills of Mount Canobolas have gradually matured, so has the variety’s growing stature in this booming cool-climate region. A most enjoyable wine of excellent structure and balance, it shows winemaker Ben Crossing’s deft hand at delivering flavours that invite immediate drinking.”
Sunday Telegraph, John Fordham, Nov 2019

89 Points  “… The balance is good and it has a touch of elegance.”
Huon Hooke, Sept 2019

“This wine is deep plum coloured with a touch of crimson. It displays aromas of plum, mulberry and blackcurrant with oak, but not overpowering. The palate is full with dark berry, black currant and cassis fruit and balanced tannins. The taste lingers long in the mouth.”
Have-a-Go News, Frank Smith, Oct 2019

“… a no-nonsense, satisfying, typically regional Cabernet Sauvignon offering by Ben Crossing and the Angullong team. This 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Orange region reflects its terroir and varietal attributes. 3 years of development have started to round off the angularity of components. This leads to a delivery of grippy savouriness with gobsful of red currant / dark berries.  Wafts of tobacco & maraschino cherries mingle with coconut essence to tease the taste buds.  This is all very well supported by textural tannins and sweet glycerol warmth. This well-priced 2016 Angullong Cabernet Sauvignon can be enjoyed now but will also benefit from some cellaring.”
The Grape Hunter, Gilbert Labour, Aug 2019
