2017 Angullong Fossil Hill Rosato

GOLD MEDAL, 2018 NSW Wine Awards

The new 2017 Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ Rosato is 100 per cent Sangiovese made from the original ‘Grosso’ clone plantings in the vineyard. We have named it Rosato as a nod to its Italian varietal heritage. It is a modern rosé with an enticing, lively, crisp palate. The flavours are of summer berries, which linger delightfully with a long dry, savoury finish. Serve it cool, but not too cold, with a platter of antipasti.

95/100 Just the perfect wine to throw in the esky as you make your way to a good picnic spot. The colder the better as it will open up with cherries and spice as it warms.” Northern Star, Dec 2017

The Real Review,
Toni Paterson MW, Oct 2017
: Freshly minted rosé with a pale pink hue and fresh cream and strawberries on the nose. The palate is beautifully dry, savoury, lemony and textured, with pleasing weight and gentle spice. Top value. Score: 91 ★★★★”

Wine Reviewer, Nov 2017:
“… pretty light pink in the glass with a nose of wild strawberry, cherry and jasmine. The palate is drying but has a fullness of mouthfeel with red cherry and strawberry fruit expansive, but at the same time it is given a savoury and citrus kick to finish. 91/100

Examiner, Max Crus, Nov 2017:
“How confusing is this? It’s an orangey-rose coloured rosato from Orange. No wonder we struggle. Although not with drinking it…this Orange thing definitely gets a green light. Rating 9.1/10″

Rob Geddes MW:  “Pretty pale pink with restrained red berry fruit aromas. A slightly savoury fruit profile, with Morello cherry and cranberry flavours on the palate, and some tannic grip leading to a firm dry finish.”

, Oct 2017:
“Good lunch time drinking. This is all strawberries and cream. Fruit is soft with good carry but the acid sits up a fraction more than expected. This bright acid frames the palate with a pool of creaminess plonked right in the centre. Red berries ride it all the way home.”

, John Rozentals, Oct 2017:
“…completely dry and packed with quite a delicious, morish flavour.”

Assist, Dan Traucki, Oct 2017:
“Very light in bright pink colour, with a fabulously grapey aroma and oodles of cherry and slightly savoury spices on the palate. They wine is elegant and moreish. AB FAB!!

Herald, Jan 2018:
“…Crisp blueberry flavour features on the front palate, the middle palate shows cherry, Turkish delight and peppermint characters and the finish has slatey acid…”
