2018 Angullong Shiraz

“Typically of cool climate shiraz, the Angullong has a spicy and peppercorn nose but oozes ripe blackberries and mulberries through the middle, with perhaps a slightly herbaceous edge. There’s lovely balance and some gentle acids and fine tannins to round out a lingering conclusion. Cooler climate Shiraz tends to display more spice and pepper compared to that of the warmer regions. Our 2017 Angullong Shiraz is exactly that. It is a flavoursome wine with ripe dark forest berry flavours with a spicy complexity and lingering smooth tannins. The is a wine to enjoy now, or let mature in the bottle over the next five or so years.

REGION: Orange Region, NSW
WINEMAKING: The fruit was fermented separately in stainless steel fermenters, with twice daily pump-overs to extract colour and flavour. The parcels were then matured in French Oak prior to blending.
COLOUR: Deep and youthful dark purple / ruby red.
AROMA: Fresh and youthful aromas of mulberry, dark plums and forest floor with complementary oak.
PALATE: Generous, rounded, fleshy flavours of ripe blackberry and mulberry with complex herb, oak and lingering balanced tannins.
WINE ANALYSIS: Alc/vol: 14.5%
ADDITIVES: Made using traditional methods. Some traces of egg products may remain. Preservative 220 added.
PEAK DRINKING: Enjoy now or cellar for up to five years.
FOOD MATCHES: Char-grilled meat, game, casseroles, cheese.
