95 POINTS, The Real Review //  94 POINTS, The Barefoot Drinker

The Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ Rosé is 100 per cent Sangiovese made from the original ‘Grosso’ clone plantings in the vineyard.  It is a modern rosé with an enticing, lively, crisp palate. The flavours are of red summer berries, which linger delightfully with a long dry, savoury finish. Serve it cool, but not too cold, with a platter of antipasti.

GOLD MEDAL, 2019 Orange Wine Show

“Provence pink colour, very much a-la-mode. Aromatics are intensely red-fruited: cherries, strawberries and rhubarb, with an attractive vein of spice. A balanced and fresh wine when sipped – cherries and raspberries, acidity and a tease of tannin affording it a rare complexity on the finish. Terrific wine.”

94 POINTS  “Crafted from Sangiovese and giving a modern styled rose, driven by light strawberry, rose water and Turkish Delight. Touch of strawberries and cream in the finish, with some feint spice… more.” Barefoot Drinker, Dec 2019

93 POINTS – Excellent  “Right time of the year to pull out some Rosé. It is such a versatile style as well, adapting to such a wide range of modern cuisines. This excellent one from the folks at this Orange winery and made of Sangiovese really ticks all the wine boxes. Salmony pink. Light bodied in style youthful fresh and full of ripe fruit that resonates from the glass. Fresh and fragrant on the nose yet with low acidity in structure it is effortless drinking but very well put together. Medium long on the finish, the strawberries, raspberries and cherries delight right to the end. A very decent Rosé may I say. ”, Dec 2019

92 POINTS  “Rosé from Orange and made with Sangiovese grapes, often creates a delightful and savoury wine, this no exception. Strawberry, Turkish Delight, it seems dry just on aromatic intro. The palate, crisp and savoury, berry driven in the main, a vanilla cream aspect buoys that. A crisp acidity adds textural crunch. Chill, and chill.”
The Vinsomniac, Dec 2019

“This one, from the Crossing family’s Orange Region grosso clone sangiovese grapes, is pale blush pink and has 13.5% alcohol and ripe strawberry scents and front-palate flavour. The middle palate features pomegranate, red apple and flint and the finish gunmetal acid…”

18.5/20  POINTS  “Dusky rose pink in colour. Earthy, stony aromas with delicate ripe nectarine stone fruit, white cherry and hints of brown spice. Diamond shaped palate: starts fine, broadens and then tightens again. Precise on the front with a fine focus with plenty of smoky cherry. Textural, dry with a long finish and a juicy kick. A step above.” Vinonotebook. Jan 2020
