2019 Angullong Pinot Grigio

TROPHY, Best Pinot Grigio of Show, 2019 Australian Highlands Wine Show

Gold Medal, 2019 Australian Highlands Wine Show  // Gold Medal , 2019 NSW Wine Awards

95 POINTS, Qwine  //  90 POINTS, Huon Hooke.

With cooler than average temperatures through spring and early summer, vine growth and bunch development were delayed. Harvest was later, working out well for the aromatic white varieties as they ripened consistently during autumn, which is characteristic of the Orange region. The resulting Angullong Pinot Grigio is a vibrant and crisp wine with cool climate varietal flavours of pear, honey and melon with linear acidity and lovely balance. It is a wine for all occasions.

TROPHY, Best Pinot Grigio of Show, 2019 Australian Highlands Wine Show

Gold Medal, 2019 Australian Highlands Wine Show

Gold Medal , 2019 NSW Wine Awards

4 Stars, Winestate Magazine, Jan 2020

“What a step up in class. I didn’t rate the 2018 all that highly but it seems this release has gone from driving a Datsun 120Y to a Porsche in less than 12 months. A ripping Pinot Grigio! This just feels good and flows with ease. Delicately perfumed, there’s fleshy pear and white stonefruit with an equal dose of dryness. A fine rub of powdery texture, a whisper of spice and musk plus well cut acidity, yep, this is a fab drink. Drink now.”
QWINE, Oct 2019

92 POINTS “Bright, fresh and inviting, the wine shows rockmelon, pear, lemon peel and floral characters on the nose. It is equally attractive on the palate with succulent fruit intensity and rounded mouthfeel, making it delightfully drinkable.,”
Wine Orbit, Sept 2019

“This is a lovely wine for summer enjoyment, a cool-climate pinot grigio in the crisp and fresh Italian style. It is floral with an expansive array of fruit flavours ranging from citrus to stone fruit and finishes brisk and fresh with lively acidity. Versatile and nicely balanced. Perfect for enjoying after work, or for pairing with a salad or picnic.” more
Ciao Magazine, Winsor Dobbin , Oct 2019

“Goodness me, I loved the aromas that wafted from the glass from the outset. As expected, it’s fresh and vibrant and smells like it’s jam packed with flavour. Speaking of which, pears aplenty, peaches and there’s a sort of hint of sweetness, yet delicate acidity brings it back into balance. Add a nice touch of musk to that freshness and vibrancy (as expected for such a young white wine) plus lovely length, balance and texture and you have very, very good wine indeed. I have to say the bottle was almost empty by the time my wife and I talked about it and I made notes. Say no more!” more
Words from a Wineglass, Oct 2019

“… It is a very approachable, refrshingly cheerful Pinot Grigio which is eminently quaffable by itself but also a palate-pleasing accompaniment to our entree of artichoke & rocket salad. One to be enjoyed whilst energetically refreshing.”
The Grape Hunter, Gilbert Labour, Oct 2019

18/20 “Pale lemon and throwing more than a few fine legs as they crawl down the walls of the glass. Rich and ripe nose of warm pear slices and juice, brown spices and a steely foil. Well balanced, the body is ripe and fresh, presenting good varietal texture without being overblown or obese. Excellent lift to finish. A prime example.”
Vinonotebook, Regan Drew, Dec 2019

WINE OF THE WEEK.  An absolute ripper dry white which also has a gold medal from the this year’s NSW Wine Awards. It has everything — flavour, length, balance, poise. It’s pure class and easily the best grigio I’ve tried all year. Drink it with quite flavoursome white meats served with a rich sauce. It has sufficient oomph to carry that sort of food.”
PS News, John Rozentals, Oct 2019
